To our runners,
Over the past few days, I’ve been reflecting on Saturday’s first Pocket Run and listening to your feedback. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped bring this event to life.
At the 2.5 km turnaround, runners were mistakenly directed to continue, causing participants to cover different distances. The affected times cannot be treated as valid, comparable 5K results.
I’m sorry to everyone affected, especially those chasing a personal best. As race director, I take responsibility.
Next year’s race will have a clearly marked course, trained race staff and pacers, with safeguards in place to prevent this from happening again. We will also work hard to secure World Athletics sanctioning for next year’s event.
I’m proud of what we started together, and I’m committed to delivering a better race next year. Thank you for helping build The Pocket Run.
